The Women in Vision and Eye Research (Ireland) are delighted to announce to their inaugural conference. The overarching remit of the conference is to promote research and the sharing of ideas and expertise in all aspects of the field of ophthalmology. We aim to support and promote the visibility of women at all stages of their careers, whether that be as a student, a researcher, an ophthalmologist, an optometrist, a pharmacist, a clinician, surgeon or nurse. With this is mind we are hosting the inaugural conference on 10th September 2021.

This free event is being organised by the WVER Ireland committee: Dr Joan Ní Gabhann-Dromgoole and Dr Emily Greenan, School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Science (PBS), RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences and Diana Malata, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital.

Join us for research updates from Dr Sarah Doyle (Trinity Inst. of Neurosciences), Ms Julie Silvestri (Belfast Health & Social Care Trust), Dr Sarah Atkinson (Ulster University) and Dr Alison Reynolds (School of Veterinary Medicine, University College Dublin).

Innovation in Public Patient Involvement (PPI) from Lorna Kerin (RCSI) and Dr Joan Ní Gabhann-Dromgoole (School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, RCSI). Advances in telemedicine from award winning nursing staff at the RVEEH.

Prof Louis Collum (RVEEH) will deliver a keynote lecture on the life and work of the Irish rebel - Dr Kathleen Lynn.

An exciting careers pathway session will be see talks from Diana Malata (Advanced nurse practitioner RVEEH), Dr Sorcha Ní Dhubhghaill (Antwerp University Hospital), Dr Nadia Zakaria (Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR)) and Marta Jiménez-García (Universitair Ziekenhuis Antwerpen).

Prizes for best poster and oral presentations as well as the young investigator award are sponsored by Thea Pharmaceuticals.
