The Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) is pleased to announce Johnson & Johnson Vision as its first Gold CPD Partner (Contact Lens Opticians) – alongside the launch of an exclusively curated 360˚ support programme.
Recognising the importance of the contact lens optician (CLO) within the primary eyecare multidisciplinary team, ABDO and Johnson & Johnson Vision have created an exciting ‘360˚ support programme’ for CLOs for 2025.
The programme will include the provision of 12 regional evening CPD events, each worth 3 CPD points to CLOs attending. An additional six online CPD sessions will focus on the Johnson & Johnson Vision Step Up programme, while a one-day CPD masterclass on multifocals will be held at the ABDO National Resource Centre in Birmingham in November.
An ABDO CLO member survey will also be jointly curated to enable both organisations to better understand the educational aims and aspirations of the CLO community, and how to best meet their needs now – and in the future.
Alex Webster, ABDO professional development director, commented: “ABDO is thrilled to partner with Johnson & Johnson Vision on this unique programme of education and engagement to support our contact lens optician members. We continually strive to offer high quality and relevant speciality education for CLOs and look forward to understanding how we can continue to serve the profession.”
Professional education and development manager for Johnson & Johnson Vision, Ian Pyzer, commented: “As a contact lens optician myself, I’m delighted to announce this support which will encompass high quality education and training for my fellow professionals. As we gain further insights into the CLO community, our support will evolve to meet and align with their needs. We look forward to working with ABDO to form a strong partnership that will benefit all CLOs.”
