Glaucoma UK is thrilled to announce the launch of its reshaped research programme for 2025 to support innovative research to improve the understanding, treatment, and care of glaucoma. The charity is committed to funding the most promising researchers and proposals that have the potential to make a significant impact in the field of glaucoma.
The charity is launching its largest ever funding round, with a total of £370,000 to be awarded. £250,000 has been allocated to award grants for research projects worth up to £100,000. The programme invites applications looking at any aspect of glaucoma care, such as improved diagnosis, monitoring, treatment or management of glaucoma. There is also £120,000 funding available for a three-year PhD studentship.
Applications will open in January, with a submission deadline in April and decisions will be announced in June.
Joanna Hodgkinson, Head of Research at Glaucoma UK commented, “We’re delighted to be introducing our new research grants in 2025. The re-launch of our PhD studentship funding enables us to continue investing in the next generation of glaucoma researchers. By revamping our project grant funding we’re confident we’re going to be supporting the best quality research. It’s critical the voice of people with glaucoma is heard throughout the planning, delivery and dissemination of glaucoma research, so we’re proud to introduce greater prominence for this in our new grant rounds. These initiatives are all designed to ensure our research funding support us in reaching our charitable mission in ending preventable glaucoma sight loss.”
