The Digital Eye Care Alliance (DECA) meeting at the OSA Summer Belfry event on June 10, is opening its doors to non-OSA members who would like to know more about the rapid advances in digital eyecare.

As part of this, the group’s Vice Chair, Dr Stephanie Campbell will workshop the concept of a Vision Passport, with the aim of placing the patient as a conduit, bringing together both their optometry and ophthalmology data. This would have the potential to enable better patient outcomes by securely utilising the right data in the right settings and opening up the patient to remote triaging and hybrid care technologies through a single platform.

DECA will also be running a workshop session on advancing children’s eyecare into the community, as Karl Jeebaun, Chair of the OSA E-Health Focus Group, explained: “We have made both workshop sessions open to non-OSA members, such is the level of importance in driving forward E-Health in optometry and ophthalmology.  Greater engagement with the NHS and establishing care pathways are at an embryonic stage and we want to ensure they are designed in the optimum way for clinicians, technology providers, and most importantly, the patients’ joined-up care.”

Anyone wishing to attend from 1.30pm on Monday 10 June should contact the OSA to book a place on the workshop, priced at £150: mmacritchie@osa-uk.co.uk
