Welcome to the fourth episode of Beyond 2020, the series that looks at strategies to eliminate avoidable blindness in countries with developing eyecare services and shares ideas and solutions to common difficulties in working abroad. Today, we look at the 'must-have' clinic equipment for use in cataract screening and surgical outreach programmes.

The type of equipment your practice might require relies heavily on the style of work you intend to do. For example, a large hospital enables you to invest in heavy, larger pieces of equipment, whereas a smaller, mobile clinic does not. Focusing on latter, Dave explores the answers to these questions: What should you bring? What will perform well? What are the 'must-haves'? And what are the 'like-to-haves'?
