BEST (Bernell Evaluation of Stereopsis Test) is a filter-free method that uses lenticular technology. The test presents colourful animal targets ranging from 400 to 40”. Stereoacuity was measured with BEST and Randot in 100 children aged 3.3-17.8 years, mean 8.52 ±3.18 years; 53% were female. Best corrected visual acuity was 0.178 ±0.16 logMAR and 64% had no strabismus. BEST stereoacuity was 1.772 ±0.27 log” (78.5 ±84.7”) and Randot stereoacuity was 1.778 ±0.39 log” (95.2 ±111.03”). Differences were not significant. Comparable measurements were found with minimal bias and narrow limits of agreement. However, at lower stereoacuity values, there was significant proportional bias with BEST showing better values. However, this was not clinically significant. Further studies are now needed for equivalence, feasibility, normative scores and accuracy.
