The purpose of this study was to provide normative data of full-field electroretinography (ERG) responses in the paediatric population using the RETeval device in healthy children with normal retinas. This was a prospective study of 38 eyes of 20 patients aged 4-17 years; nine male and 11 female. Mean age was 8.4 years. A moderate positive correlation was found for age and oscillatory potential as well as age and scotopic dim flash amplitude. A strong correlation was also found for age and cone a-wave implicit time. There was no correlation for age and other electromyography (EMG) measurements. The authors found this device to be well tolerated by patients of all ages and eliminated the need for sedation. This study may be useful in providing reference values for a normal paediatric population.
