This study reports the outcomes of silicone band loop myopexy in a case series of seven children (10 eyes) with myopic strabismus fixus. There were five males and two females with a median age of five years (range 3–11). Six children had esotropia / hypotropia with median eso angle of 62.5PD, and one was exotropia / hypotropia measuring 14PD exo. Median hypotropia was 15PD. High axial myopia ranged from -6 to -30D (median -13.5D). Median axial length was 27.97mm. All children had moderate to severe amblyopia. Three underwent bilateral surgery and four, unilateral surgery. Preoperative limitations were -2/3 for elevation and abduction, improving to -1 limitations postoperatively with follow-up to seven years. Two developed consecutive exotropia. The authors report the clinical profile of these childhood cases as similar to that of adults. They conclude the surgical technique is reliable with stable outcomes.
